GPT-6.1 Terra: agents 3x faster at half the price

OpenAI has launched GPT-6.1 Terra, a mid-size model for controlling your computer, understanding images and handling everyday work. It's in ChatGPT Work and Codex (Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu), and in the API as gpt-6.1-terra it costs $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens, half the price of GPT-6.1 Sol. According to OpenAI, it finishes tasks more than 3 times faster than GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol.

Why you should care

If you build agents or automations on the OpenAI API, your bill could drop by half without losing much quality. For serious coding, OpenAI itself still recommends Sol or Astra. Terra is for the everyday grind: fast and cheap.
